The inaugural Universitas Pelita Harapan International Conference on ‘Regulating Technology in Asia: Prospects and Challenges’ in collaboration with Monash Law and Faculty of Law Chiang Mai will take place on 07 – 08 March 2024 in Tangerang, Indonesia. As a special highlight of this conference, there will be an exclusive event in collaboration with the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA), focusing on ‘Local Content Requirements: Promises and Pitfalls.’ This session will provide a unique platform for in-depth discussions on the challenges and opportunities associated with local content requirements.
Emerging disruptive technologies such as AI and blockchain are advancing rapidly and reshaping the social, economic, and geopolitical dynamics around the world. To meet this challenge, countries need to adapt quickly and to put in place an enabling legal framework which recognizes the significant role that various actors play in the innovation and commercialization ecosystem while ensuring protection of the rights of broader society.
We invite scholars, researchers, practitioners and students working in this area to join us as we seek to encourage regional collaboration and to provide a platform for closer engagement to discuss the prospects and challenges in regulating technology in Asia, from emergence and growth through to maturity, for regional development and prosperity.
